The Santa Rosan: Student Newspaper

This one’s a real throwback: I was the editor-in-chief of my high school student publication. I designed page layouts and managed a classroom of writers and photographers to create content for a diverse audience of students, faculty, parents, and community members.

Our class won Overall Excellence and I earned the title of Journalist of the Year at the 2015 Redwood Empire Excellence In Journalism Awards.

As editor-in-chief, I curated the articles, photographs, and design of each page of the newspaper. I had an incredible team for my year as editor — we had tremendous talent in our writers and creative genius among our photographers. Each issue felt like our best yet, and I owe my success to a team of students who supported me and communicated to me how to best support them.
