I was the editor-in-chief of a high school student publication. I designed page layouts and managed a classroom of writers and photographers to create content for a diverse audience of students, faculty, parents, and community members.
Our class won Overall Excellence and I earned the title of Journalist of the Year at the 2015 Redwood Empire Excellence In Journalism Awards.
(I was overjoyed!! This was by and large the best part of my high school experience.)
As editor-in-chief, I curated the articles, photographs, and design of each page of the newspaper. I had an incredible team for my year as editor — we had tremendous talent in our writers and creative genius among our photographers. Each issue felt like our best yet, and I owe my success to a team of students who supported me and communicated to me how to best support them.
